31 Days of Horror 2014: Day 4

As sadomasochistic yakuza enforcer Kakihara searches for his missing boss he comes across Ichi, a repressed and psychotic killer who may be able to inflict levels of pain that Kakihara has only dreamed of.

Takashi Miike's "Ichi the Killer" is a masterpiece of insane cinema. This film is surely challenging-filled with enough sadistic violence and rape to satisfy fans of Japanese harrowing cinema. It's based on the popular manga by Hideo Yamamoto. The character of Ichi is truly amazing-he is a mysterious figure who slices various individuals into numerous bloody pieces with razor sharp blades strapped to his boots. The gore is pretty extreme as Ichi literally slices people in half with his razor-sharp boots. The acting is surprisingly good-Nao Omori and Tadanobu Asano are impressive as Ichi and Kakihara.Highly recommended, especially if you have strong stomach.

Alien brain parasites, entering humans through the mouth, turn their host into a killing zombie. Some teenagers start to fight against them. "Thrill Me!"

Night of the Creeps is one seriously fun film. A mixture of 1950's sci-fi films mixed with some zombie action and a lot of humor. Night of the Creeps is a gem that needs to be revived in the DVD age. Tom Atkins is the highlight as the foul-mouthed and sarcastic detective that accompanies Chris during the debacle.

31 Days of Horror 2014: Day 2

The Devil's Rejects is a terrorizing, demented, and all around great movie!

This is Rob Zombie's second movie and a continuation of House of 1000 Corpses. The three "Rejects" are bloodthirsty, cunning, and down right funny throughout this film. Otis is the epitome of intensity, while Baby oozes sexual tension to the point of driving us insane. Spaulding is a clown, but in a good way. His menacing, yet funny demeanor is refreshing as it is disturbing. A must see movie!

31 Days Of Horror 2014: Day 1

House of 1000 Corpses is the depraved vision of Rob Zombie, who made his directorial debut with this movie in 2003. This movie is a delicious bite of 70's style horror and gives a look and feel of an unholy union between today's gore with yesteryear's suspense.

Being a Rob Zombie fan, I immediately wanted to see this and I was not let down. My friends and I watched the crowd to see their reactions to what we knew was an awesome movie. Six people left, one woman was ill, and one man was offended within the first moments of the movie. Did they not know what they were getting into?

This movie is great and I would recommend it to anyone that was interested in 70's style horror.
