21 Jumpstreet

21 Jump Street is a 2012 American action comedy film starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, written by Hill and Michael Bacall, and directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. It is based on the 1987 television series of the same name by Stephen J. Cannell and Patrick Hasburgh.

Plot

Morton Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Greg Jenko (Channing Tatum) are former classmates who meet again at police academy. Schmidt was a nerd while Jenko was a jock. They end up becoming friends at the academy as they help with each others' weaknesses, with Schmidt helping Jenko study and Jenko motivating Schmidt through physical activity. They graduate together as partners, but are assigned to park patrol. They catch a break when they spot a group of drug dealers and arrest their leader Domingo (DeRay Davis). However, the department is forced to release him as Jenko forgot the wording of the Miranda rights. The two are reassigned to a revived specialty division on 21 Jump Street.

They are introduced to Captain Dickson (Ice Cube), who explains the division specializes in infiltrating high schools and that they were chosen because of their youthful appearances. Schmidt and Jenko are assigned to go back to their old high school to stop a new synthetic drug from spreading to other campuses by finding the supplier. They go undercover as brothers, living at Schmidt's parents' house, and see that their high school has changed. Jenko accidentally switches their identities and they get each others' classes. They learn the lead dealer of the drug is the popular Eric (Dave Franco), but he is not the supplier.

They go to the dealing room where Eric forces them to take the drug there and not wait. They attempt to regurgitate it but are unsuccessful, and they undergo the phases of the drug while talking to their P.E. teacher, Mr. Walters (Rob Riggle), and also while running track and during band practice. The mistakes that happen at the track meet causes Eric to take a liking to Schmidt.

Schmidt manages to fit in with the popular kids and takes a romantic interest in Eric's friend Molly (Brie Larson), while Jenko becomes friends with the nerds in his AP Chemistry class while his teacher Ms. Griggs (Ellie Kemper) takes a sexual interest in him. Jenko discovers that his new friends secretly tap into other people's cell phones to listen into their conversations. Schmidt decides to throw a party at his house to gain Eric's complete trust and Jenko takes the opportunity to tap into Eric's phone. Despite Captain Dickson ordering them not to serve alcohol and drugs to minors, they nevertheless buy alcohol and steal confiscated marijuana. When Eric arrives with Molly and his other friends, Jenko steals Eric's phone for his friends to tap into while Schmidt fights off a rival of Eric's.

Schmidt pretends to sell the drug for Eric but is actually giving it to Captain Dickson to be confiscated. While at Eric's house, Schmidt asks Molly out to prom while Jenko listens through Eric's phone. He also insults Jenko to Eric with Jenko listening. Schmidt and Jenko learn that Eric is making a deal soon. When Jenko spots Eric leaving school, he takes Schmidt to follow him. They see that Eric is dealing with Domingo and his gang and they follow them, but are forced to run away when Domingo spots them. Back at school, Jenko accuses Schmidt of his earlier insults, possibly ruining the case, and getting in too deep, but Schmidt brushes him off. Jenko and Schmidt get into a fight that results in them getting expelled and fired from Jump Street.

Later that night, both are confronted by Eric and his friends, who want to bring them on as security after hearing about what happened with Domingo. He tells them about a deal with Domingo happening during prom where they get to meet the supplier. At prom, they are surprised to see that the supplier is Mr. Walters. When Domingo and his gang arrive, he recognizes Schmidt and Jenko as police officers, and tells two of his men to kill them. However, the two men reveal themselves as DEA Agents Tom Hanson (Johnny Depp) and Doug Penhall (Peter DeLuise), who were a part of the Jump Street program when it began. Hanson casually talks to Schmidt and Jenko during the standoff which gives Domingo the opportunity to kill him and Penhall. A gunfight ensues between Schmidt and Jenko, Mr. Walters, and Domingo and his crew. Mr. Walters and Eric escape in a limo with Molly as a hostage, with Domingo and his crew in pursuit of them in another limo. Schmidt and Jenko pursue all of them in another limo where Jenko creates a homemade chemical bomb from his knowledge in AP Chemistry to kill Domingo and his crew. They then confront Mr. Walters, who shoots at Schmidt. Jenko jumps in front of Schmidt, saving his life and getting shot in the arm and his chest, which was protected by a bullet-proof vest, in the process. In response, Schmidt shoots Mr. Walters in the groin, severing his penis. The duo successfully arrest him and Eric and make amends with each other. Schmidt makes amends with Molly and the two share a kiss. They are rehired into Jump Street where Dickson gives them a new assignment in a college setting, to Schmidt's excitement but to Jenko's dismay.

I'll be honest with you folks, I originally thought this movie would suck due to the fact it's a film about an 80's tv show. I was extremely surprised at how the movie took that into consideration and made fun of it. I was really surprised that Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise did a cameo in the film and that it was kept a secret. The movie made me wanna go to my local department store and purchase the original Jumpstreet series. If you've not seen it, you should go rent it and see how awesome it is for yourself!

Blue Man Group

I won tickets to see the Blue Man Group on Star 102.1fm. (a local radio station here in Knoxville TN) I have always wanted to see them and now I finally get to!

The Blue Man Group is an organization founded by Chris Wink, Matt Goldman and Phil Stanton. The organization produces theatrical shows and concerts featuring popular music, comedy and multimedia; recorded music and scores for film and television; television appearances for shows such as The Tonight Show, Las Vegas, Scrubs, FETCH! with Ruff Ruffman, and Arrested Development; and a children's museum exhibit ("Making Waves"). All of the organization's appearances star a trio of performers called Blue Men, who all wear blue makeup and bald caps.

In 1999, the group released their first audio recording, appropriately titled Audio. Although it contained some of the music from their stage productions, it was less of a soundtrack and more a collection of full-length instrumentals that featured new instruments.

In 2002, the group participated in Moby's Area2 tour, giving a more rock-oriented performance than in the theatrical shows. Songs developed during this tour appeared on 2003's album The Complex.

Unlike Audio, The Complex featured a variety of vocalists and guests including Tracy Bonham, Dave Matthews, Gavin Rossdale and Venus Hum. The record spawned its own 2003 tour, the first headlined by Blue Man Group. The tour deconstructed the traditional rock concert experience into its often clichéd parts and was chronicled in a 2004 DVD release. The tour featured Tracy Bonham and Venus Hum as supporting acts. The DVD included a surround sound mix of some of the studio recordings.

Blue Man Group launched its second tour, The "How to Be a Megastar Tour 2.0", on September 26, 2006. The tour added some new material to material from the original Complex Rock Tour, and had Tracy Bonham as an opening act and vocalist. DJ/VJ Mike Relm was the opening act for the second leg of this tour, which ended April 22, 2007 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. This third leg of the tour began in May 2007 and included performances in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey, Mexico; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Santiago, Chile. The fourth leg, using "2.1" in its title, included more U.S. and Canada dates. Following that, the Megastar World Tour visited France, Korea, Canada, Germany, and a few other European countries throughout 2008.

The "How to Be a Megastar Tour 2.0" visited Taipei, Taiwan from August 19 to 23 as part of a promotional campaign for the 2009 Summer Deaflympics in Taipei, most of the show's dialogue displayed with subtitle. As Typhoon Morakot hit the island and caused serious damage in mid August, the group agreed to perform one extra show with the proceeds being donated to the victims of the flood.

Announced in 2009, Blue Man Group began performing for the first time at sea on Norwegian Cruise Line's newest ship, the Norwegian EPIC. The EPIC began alternating 7-Day Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings round-trip Miami with Blue Man Group shows nightly in July 2010.

This is gonna be a great show at the Tennessee Theater on July 24th and I'm so pumped to see them! Thanks Star 102.1fm!!!

The Vow

I chose this movie for one reason: It was free and nothing else looked good enough to watch.

I went in to this movie expecting it to be another chick-flick because of Channing Tatum of Step Up and Rachel McAdams of Mean Girls two people synonymous with "girl movies". Amazingly enough, I found myself asking the questions: "Could I do what this guy was doing?" "Could anyone really tough this out?" I wondered how someone could fight so hard to get the person they love to remember who they are, all over again...

The Vow is a 2012 romantic drama film directed by Michael Sucsy, starring Rachel McAdams, Channing Tatum, Sam Neill, Scott Speedman and Jessica Lange. The film is based on the true story of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter.

The Vow is based on the actual relationship of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, who wrote a book about their marriage, also known as The Vow. Ten weeks after their wedding on September 18, 1993, the couple was in an automobile accident in which Krickitt suffered brain trauma, which erased memories of her romance with Kim as well as their recent marriage. Kim, however, was still madly in love with his wife, although she viewed him as a stranger after the accident. According to the couple, their faith in Jesus and their wedding vows before God kept them together.

PLOT
Paige Collins (Rachel McAdams) and her husband Leo (Channing Tatum) come out of a movie theater. On their way home, at a stop sign, Paige unbuckles her seatbelt to lean over and kiss Leo. At that very moment, a truck rams their car from behind and Paige crashes through the windshield. Both of them are rushed to the emergency room, and as Leo, in a voice-over talks about how "moments of impact help in finding who we are" the movie cuts to how Paige and Leo first met. The scenes of how they courted, proposed and married are interwoven with the present.

When Paige regains her consciousness, she thinks Leo is her doctor, having lost all memories of the past few years. When her parents, Bill and Rita Thornton, learn about this and visit her, it is the first time that Leo meets them. Paige does not understand why she left law school, broke her engagement with her previous fiancé, Jeremy, and why she has not been in touch with her family and friends. Her parents insist on taking her home with them and Paige agrees, assuming she might have married Leo for some mutual benefit and seeks evidence for the marriage. Just as she's about to leave, Leo comes running to play her a voice message in which she sounds very happy and romantic. Paige decides to go back with Leo, hoping it will help her regain her lost memory. Paige is welcomed home with a surprise party by her friends, but as she is not able to remember any of them, she finds it overwhelming and bursts out in anger.

The next day Paige ventures out to her regular cafe but does not remember having been there and loses her way back. She calls her mother because she does not know or remember Leo's number. That evening Leo and Paige are invited for dinner by her parents. At the dinner and in the bar later, Leo does not fit in with her family and friends. He persists in his attempts to help her regain her memory, but Paige is more driven to learning why she left law school and broke her engagement to Jeremy. During the course of one encounter with Jeremy, she kisses him. Her doctor advises her to fill the holes in her memory rather than be afraid of her past. With her sister Gwen's wedding approaching, Paige decides to stay with her parents until the wedding. Though Leo asks her out on a date and spends a night with her, the relationship is further strained when Paige's dad tries to persuade Leo to divorce his daughter, and by Leo punching Jeremy for talking about chances to bed his wife.

Paige rejoins law school and Leo signs divorce papers. At a store, she meets an old friend who, unaware of her amnesia, apologizes for having had a relationship with Paige's dad, thus alerting Paige as to why she had left her family. When she confronts her mother about this, Rita tells her that she decided to stay with Bill for all the things he had done right instead of leaving him for one wrong act. Paige then asks Leo why he never told her, and he replies he wanted to earn her love instead of driving her away from her parents. Paige, while in class, starts sketching; thus depicting how she first left law school. She continues her interest in art, eventually returning to sculpting and drawing. Though Jeremy confesses he broke up with his present girlfriend, hoping to be back with her, she turns him down stating she needs to know what life would be without him.

As seasons change, Leo, in a voiceover, talks about "moments of impact and ripple effects where some particles are brought closer and some are spun off into great adventures". Back in her room, Paige finds the menu card on which she had written her wedding vows and is deeply moved. The movie ends with Paige waiting for Leo at their regular Cafe Mnemonic and going with him to try a new place instead of their regular alternative, a Cuban place.

Maiden England: 2012 North American Tour

WOW! This concert was AWESOME!!! The Atlanta Ga stop for this band was perfect! The sea of fans made the show just as much as the band did. Bruce Dickinson makes you feel like he's singing directly to you and it shows just how great of a frontman he really is. If he said jump, the fans jumped till he said stop. The band played flawlessly and Bruce's vocals were spot on, they made it sound like the albums and that shows how professional they are. I liked Iron Maiden in the past but seeing them live makes me respect them and love their music even more. Thank you for rocking Atlanta Ga boys! Now, Run To The Hills!

Iron Maiden

In Atlanta, Ga waiting to see Iron Maiden for the first time ever! I'm currently in a restaurant called the Bullpen across from Turner Field where the Braves play and the Maiden fans are filing in. I've met fans from Argentina and they're so knowledgeable of the Iron Maiden legacy. There are families here with children and the kids know about Maiden. It is an awesome feeling when a person walks in with a Maiden shirt and everyone welcomes them like family. I believe the show will be awesome and Alice Cooper is performing as well!

Jeff Who Lives At Home

I just watched an interesting movie that stars Jason Segel, Susan Sarandon and Ed Helms called Jeff Who Lives At Home. I like How I Met Your Mother and the other projects that Jason Segel is involved with, so I figured this would be good too. I was not wrong at all. This movie plays out like an ordinary day. You can feel for these characters because they are just like us. Lost and looking for the truth, a soul mate, and/or our destiny. I truly enjoyed this film and I suggest you see it. Time to rate this movie.

This Means War

If you've ever met someone and your friend met them too, did you ever wonder who might get with that special person? This Means War is the movie for you!

Chris Pine plays FDR and Tom Hardy plays Tuck. Both are highly trained CIA agents and best friends. Tuck is looking to settle down and FDR is a fun loving bachelor. Tuck signs up on an online dating site in hopes of finding the "love" of his life. In comes Reese Witherspoon's character Lauren. Lauren is always running into her old boyfriend and his new fiancé. Her best friend played by Chelsea Handler signs Lauren up for the same website. Tuck and Lauren meet on a date and things are looking good. Lauren runs into FDR and things spark, but not as planned! The fun is about to commence!!!

I won't lie, I thought this might be a "ho-hum chick flick". I was completely wrong in that assumption! This movie had everything to keep me interested: Comedy, Intrigue, Spies, Action, and some Romance. This is a great date movie for all couples. Time to rate the movie!

Chris Benoit

For some, when they hear the name Chris Benoit, they remember the Murder-Suicide that happened in Atlanta, GA. When I hear the name Chris Benoit, I remember the wrestler that broke Sabu's neck in ECW. The man that was a Four Horsemen in WCW and the World Champion in the WWE. I don't want to remember Benoit like most people do (that's my choice). I was a Chris Benoit fan from day one and whether a good guy (Face) or bad guy (Heel) I cheered for him. He had the tools to be one of the greats in the wrestling business and on one night it was all swept away. Yes it's terrible what happened that night to Nancy and Daniel Benoit, I'll be the first to admit it. The Benoit Murder-Suicide has been devastating on the families of these folks and this is my only comment about it. As a wrestler, Benoit was great! As a man, I didn't know him enough to say if he was good or bad. I only knew him through what everyone else knew him from, wrestling.

On a side note, if the families ever read this my heart and prayers go out to you all. I hope that you will not look at this in a bad way, but in a way that praises his work in wrestling.

WWE 13

I am SO looking forward to this game! Every year I buy the newest WWE game from game developer THQ and I get little surprises like downloadable content or hidden content that no one knows about. I am a creator on these games. The Create-A-Wrestler program is so awesome that I have spent days creating one character. The move set is incredible as well as the roster. Now I wish they would offer a franchise option like how the NCAA to Madden games are, only this would allow you to create your wrestler or CAW and just transfer them to the next installment. It would also be great to have that when it comes to the Legends and it would definitely make gameplay that much better. Let us alter the superstars' attire to the attire of the past as well as change their names if and when they change. I believe this game will be awesome and I will own it!

This not only offends the African American community but it will offend some redneck because he had the idea first. Insane Clown Posse

I stumbled upon the infamous ICP when I was a junior in high school. A buddy of mine showed me the cd case of the Riddle Box album and I was hooked just from the artwork. Now I know there are some folks that don't like or down right hate the founders of Psychopathic Records. They have been through the ringer with certain groups in the media and of course with parents and churches. I looked at their music like I did Marilyn Manson's or even Frank Zappa's, it's a form of art (but that's just me). I still listen to ICP and I get the comments about how they suck and what not. I have even been told the "Juggalo" name is considered a gang and are on police watch lists. WOW! I could see that if those folks were criminals, but most of ICP's fans are easy going folks like me. I am tempted to don the clown makeup and do some comedy just to see how many folks would boo or be cool with it. These guys went from a group originally called Inner City Posse that in their eyes were going nowhere, to fame and notoriety as Insane Clown Posse. I openly admit that I am an ICP fan and I will be for a long time. Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope, two guys that created some music I enjoy! Woo Woo!

Halloween

It's been a tradition in my home to watch a scary movie everyday during the month of October and ending on Halloween with the 1978 classic Halloween. I hated October as a kid because of this tradition. I got to watch the Disney Halloween shows and stuff like that but once I went to bed the adults would pop in a horror movie. October 31st, 1991 I told my mom that I wanted to watch Halloween with her. She smiled as she asked: Are you sure? I said: Yeah, I'm eleven and big kids watch Halloween. Truth is, they watch it when they don't have to go to bed because I didn't sleep at all that night. I was hooked on that feeling of being scared as well as excited at the same time. Plus I got to spend more time with my mom and other family when we hung out like that. I miss those days.

The horror movie genre was in my blood. While my mom was pregnant, she would go see these movies and this explains my tastes for buttered popcorn and cherry coke. I was amazed to find this out cause mom had an extremely weak stomach and the least little thing could make her ill. She could handle her horror movies! Well, except Hostel... To be honest with you, I can't handle that one either. There are some horror movies I won't watch due to some issues I have. I Spit On Your Grave is the main one I'm talking about and not just the remake. Sorry, I went a different direction there.

Once I got older I kept the tradition alive and every October night you'll find me watching a horror movie. I miss the days of having the family come over on Halloween night and enjoying a movie but mostly enjoying the time with them. What's your Halloween tradition?

A Nightmare On Elm Street

This series was the most talked about in my circle of friends. I was scared to death of Freddy Kruger when I was a child but, I also wanted to watch the movies without having nightmares. Now before you start on parenting I'll say this: I wasn't allowed to watch an "R" rated movie until I was 17... As far as my mom knows ;) I watched the first Nightmare at 18 years old and was hooked on the series. Robert England was funny as the child killer Freddy Kruger, usually funny and child killer don't go together but they describe this character perfectly. As the story goes, Freddy was a child molester/killer and the parents of Elm Street locked him in his basement and set fire to his home, leaving him for dead. Freddy made a deal with the dream demons and now enters the dreams of the sons and daughters of the Elm Street families. Preying on their fears and fantasies all while saying something oh so clever just before killing them. Some of my closest friends still remember their first nightmare with Freddy as their tormentor. I was always on the same side as Kruger, is that weird? Anyway, I loved the Nightmare series and when I heard about the remake I was a tad skeptical. It was a darker take on the series and I thought it told more about Kruger and how he really was. Thank you to the New Line Cinema folks and all of the cast members for bringing this series to all of us fans!

Connie And Carla

I picked this movie due to the sentimental value it holds with me. This movie was suggested by my mom and if you knew my mom you'd know how eclectic she was. She said it was her favorite movie alongside of Rocky Horror Picture Show and White Girls. I watched this movie and fell in love with it. I'm a sucker for a feel good movie and this is just that. The movie stars Toni Collette and Nia Vardalos as two aspiring show girls that see a murder and skadaddle to West Hollywood so they can hide from the murderous thugs chasing them. The cast is amazing and the story rocks. If you're looking for a feel good funny movie, this is the one for you.

Nurses

I always laugh when I see an attractive woman in a nurse's outfit on Halloween. It's usually a sexy or slutty nurse that they're trying to be and I always see a guy at a party say: "Man, I wish all the nurses looked like that!" It's funny how you put a hot looking woman in a nurse's outfit and it makes all of the guys take notice. Of course, the Hollywood picks up on this and we see all of these movies or tv shows about hospitals. Great movies and shows, but nothing holds a candle to the porno version of a nurse. That brings us back to the Halloween party. The girl dressed in the outfit was a real nurse and was proud to keep the image of the "slutty" nurse alive... Even after we found out she blew the "Doctor" in the bathroom at the party. Viva Las Slutty Nurse!!!

Fright Night

In 2011, Touchstone Pictures remade the 1985 classic: Fright Night. I have some issues with remakes of movies and some music, but that's for another topic. Back to the original topic of Fright Night.
The movie started out a little slow but it started to pick up steam after a couple of minutes. Colin Farrell's character "Jerry" provided some comic relief in a sadistic kind of way. The movie was really good and kept my attention. I had originally written this movie off due to it being a remake but it was done very well and I would watch it again.

Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance

I love the Ghost Rider comic books and when I heard that Marvel was gonna make a Ghost Rider movie, I knew I had to see it! The first one was a good start for the series but it lacked the overall "meat and potatoes" but had tons of "sizzle". This movie had more to the story and some great visual effects but it feels like it was forced in a lot of ways. Nicholas Cage plays Johnny Blaze in this sequel to the 2007 blockbuster and he is the only one from the original movie to reprise his roll. The movie was a different take on the spirit of vengeance and also brought to the forefront the angel of justice. If you're a huge Ghost Rider fan and enjoy anything about the character, then you should own this movie. For the rest of us, I give this on The Dean's List Scale:

This is the band that opened for Alice Cooper on the "No More Mr. Nice Guy Tour" that stopped here in Knoxville TN and I have to be honest with ya, they were really good! They had a great sound and their presence on stage was just like you would expect a rock band to be, balls to the wall intensity! I enjoyed their set and the style of music they played kept me in the groove of every song they played. If you get a chance, look them up at www.venreztheband.com or follow them on Twitter: @venrez21

"Sell The Lie" Track Listing
1. Karma
2. Yesterday Has Gone
3. Insanity
4. Melting
5. Ants & Sand
6. Sell the Lie
7. Unplanned Fate
8. Can't Find My Way Home
9. Messenger
10. My Only Light

I got the chance to meet the band after the show and bought their cd. While I met them I got to tell them a couple of jokes and they dug the jokes and then signed the cd I purchased. You can tell the band was influenced by Alice In Chains as well as the singer's similar Scott Weiland-esque voice oozing all over the tracks on this cd. If you're in to Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains and some of the Grunge music from Seattle but also want some Hollywood flare, then this band is for you!

No More Mr. Nice Guy

So I got to see Alice Cooper last night and the show was AWESOME!!! The fans were so diverse that you could see generations of fans in just one row. It was better that I had expected!

My First Concert

I get to see my first real concert tonight here in Knoxville Tn and I'm really excited about it! I get to see Alice Cooper and I'm pumped!

Now before anyone tries to call me out, I have been to concerts before but always with church and never to a "secular" concert. I have seen Carman in concert as well as some other Christian artists, but I've never had the chance to see a band or artist like this. I'm not knocking the Christian artists, all I'm saying is the music I really wanted to hear or concerts I wanted to see... I didn't have a chance to see. I'll be rocking out with the Rock Maiden herself and on June 23rd, we'll be seeing Iron Maiden in Atlanta. We might get to interview some folks for my show, The Dean's List!

I will let ya'll know how the concert is and as always...

Bouncers

Yes, we've all heard the Ron White joke about how bouncers get together, watch Road House and fondle themselves. I've been a bouncer in the past (and will be again soon) and I've seen Road House, but I have yet to fondle myself while watching that movie. I have however seen guys watch the movie and try to be just like Patrick Swayze's character "Dalton" and FAIL miserably! I have seen them casually walk up on a "fight" and try to break it up, only to get busted in the mouth or knocked the hell out! Just treat the situation like you would any other... BJG "Balls Jaw Gut" lol

Anyway, it's Monday and another work week has started... Blah blah blah! Everybody is working for the weekend cause Saturday night's alright (for fighting)! That's why UFC has matches on Saturdays :) (ok, that's just my opinion). I'm trying to let my back relax because I've had to pick up a bed and deliver a bed and I tweaked my back while lifting correctly. Some folks may ask: How do you tweak your back, if you lift correctly? And, to that I say this: BITE ME!
My back has been an issue for sometime and it hurts some then it doesn't. I've drank nothing but water and the same issue comes up. So it's not the kidneys... It could still be, but I'm not a doctor. Ha ha! Oh well...

Thanx for reading and as always:

Which Lantern Are You?

Those that know me have had the privilege of seeing me get extremely excited about the Green Lantern Saga: Blackest Night. It was the event I had waited for and spent boo-coos of dollars on merchandise and comic books. The dead heroes and villains rising from the grave to take on the current heroes and villains made comic books relevant to me again. Yes, Marvel did their "Zombie" books, but this was DC Comics and I had grown up reading Batman, Flash, Green Lantern and of course, Superman. Seeing these superheroes facing super zombies was awesome! The Black Lanterns were hell on wheels and heels, if they were female :) It kept me riveted to my local comic shop to get all of the books, merchandise, and the rings that came with certain books. I have all of the rings and I started thinking: If I was able to be a Lantern, what Lantern Corps would I join?

I read everything I could about the different Corps and tried to choose the right one, only to find out that I had each of the Corps within my very being. I could be a member of any of the Corps just from looking at the meanings of each one.

Meanings of the lantern corps colors:
Black:  death
Red:  Rage
Orange:  Avarice
Yellow:  Fear
Green:  Willpower
Blue:  Hope
Indigo:  Compassion
Violet:  Love
White:  Life

Now some of you may laugh at this and that's more than ok. I'm a comic book nerd and I admit it! I just wonder what Corps you would join... I believe within my heart that I would be a Blue Lantern just because I'm always hoping for the best and folks look at me and have asked: "How are you so hopeful in times of hopelessness?" I answer like this: It's better to hope for the best than to worry like the rest.

Ashley Corby

Ashley is a Nashville comedian and as you can see, an attractive young lady. It surprised me when her "teacher" sent me this photo of her in "detention"!

She is a very funny lady and you should check out her show anytime you get the chance.

The Breakfast Club

I love this movie and I was amazed at how relevant it is even now. The first time I watched the movie it was on VH1 Classic and it was edited. I was hooked as I saw Judd Nelson "bucking" the system with his comebacks aimed directly at the principal. It reminded me of my school days from elementary to high school. I bought the movie in 2005 and watched it every night for a month. Everytime I saw it I would get a different point of view. I could relate to each character even the principal and it's weird to admit that 'cause now I feel old... I felt like the loner, the rebel, the jock, the geek, and the princess... LOL

I loved the movie so much that I then purchased: Weird Science and Sixteen Candles. These movies are classics and if you haven't seen them yet, you should and SOON!

Pump Up The Volume

I will openly admit that this movie along with Good Morning Vietnam made me want to be in radio. The ability to talk to potential millions and entertain them all while spinnin' some tunes that could bring memories of good times back to the forefront. At Fulton High School, I was just another student with high hopes of graduating and kickin' the door of life wide open! I went through the motions of every day until my last class, the class I loved the most: Radio Broadcasting! I would bring in cassette tapes (remember those) of '50s, '60s, '70s, and '80s music that I knew would get the folks listening in a great mood. I went so far as to give my cell phone number out while on air for folks to make requests. I had a ball in that class and for that time period I was the host of my own show. My classmates and I would write fake commercials and have them play on air for a laugh. It was so much fun that it didn't feel like work at all. GOLD 91.1 WKCS Radio was my home during last period and I made that place rock. Playing songs by KISS, Aerosmith, Johnny Hates Jazz, Culture Club, B.B. King and many many artists that could groove people in a fun way. I'd love to get back into radio again on a broader scale and do the same thing I did in high school. I watch movies like this, Good Morning Vietnam, and some other radio based movies. Pump Up The Volume showed me that there were others that dealt with the same issues I deal with on a daily basis and that it takes one voice to reach out to the masses. Once heard, there's a reaction. Good or bad, there's always a reaction. I wanna be able to make folks laugh and enjoy some great music. That's fun for me! "HOLLA!"

Advice

I always ask fellow comedians for their advice on being a comic and the majority of them say the same thing (it's valuable info, kids!): Do what makes you laugh! If others think it's funny, they'll laugh with you. I am starting to notice that when I write jokes, I'm writing for the audience and not for me. It's my take on things that will make them laugh or cringe and I got away from that. I want people to see the world through my mucked up eyes and experiences. So I will be doing a lot more personal stuff from my life and the "trials" I've been through.

Now to some fun stuff! In the picture is the Midnight Swinger, a crazy comedian from Las Vegas and the guy is the epitome of the word "Entertainer"! I got to speak with him (hence the picture) and he told me like all the comedians I've asked: "Keep on writing and get as much stage time as possible. The more polished you are the better you will become." I performed last wednesday night at Side Splitters Comedy Club in Knoxville TN and it had been so long since my last show that I looked visibly shaken on stage. My rhythm was off and I just didn't have it like I did before I took time off. I'll get back to where I left off but I gotta hit the stage more. Thank you to all of the comedians that have given me and others the advice that we so desperately need. "HOLLA!"

Trained by the Best

I was told not to offend anyone as a child and yet I still offended folks in some way. Everyone gets offended by something and think you're not gonna offend anyone, is just a fallacy! I have offended people in church by wearing the clothes I had at the time. The weird thing was, it was my Easter gift and it was an outfit with shorts. I was pulled to the side by a lady that I respected and she said she was disappointed in me for wearing shorts to church. I don't remember saying anything back to her but I was upset about it. I thought to myself, "Would she have said that to Jesus if the was all he had at the time?" "Would she turn away a homeless man if he needed to hear the word of God?" These thoughts made me question everything I knew at that point and it sparked that internal flame of: I'll have the last word! I became the "heel" or bad guy at church and to be honest, I kinda dug it. I questioned everything not to be an ass but to see how much information people really had about what they were talking so much about. Now don't get me wrong, I am a Christian and I believe in God but, I'm not close minded and judgmental of folks when they enter the house of the Lord. At one time the only dress shirt or button up shirt I had was a Scarface movie shirt that had the words money, power, respect on it. Of course I got some looks from the older folks, but I didn't care. I was with my buddy who had a mohawk and was someone that church looked up to. When he was talked to, it rattled his faith! He knew of my struggles and asked how I got through it and my words shocked him. "I don't care what they think! I am true to myself and if people are offended, then I don't need to associate with them!" I was an open book to my friends and the folks around me.

"It's better to be an open sinner than a false saint" - Wicked Jester Quote

My comedy has caused me to lose friends and gain new ones. My life decisions have done the same, yet I persevere and push on. The motto of my Grandfather, Grandmother, and Mother is the very one I live by and will be the next tattoo I get: "Keep Moving Forward"
Tomorrow is the goal, yesterday is done, and today is mine for the taking! I forget that sometimes and have to remind myself to recite this, almost like a prayer. I have no ill feelings toward that lady or the folks of that church or my buddy's church for how they treated him. I literally have better things to worry with. I feel bad for them for being that way toward anyone in that situation. Karma finds us all, one way or another! Thanks for checking out my blogs folks, it means a lot to me and just remember that they all won't be serious like this one! :)

Don't ya just love pics like this? I know I laugh everytime I see something similar to this picture. It's kinda like the look a significant other would give you if they really wanted something or if a child was kind of scared or nervous about something. That's just my thought on the picture...

Have you noticed how everything is getting "bundled" nowadays? Cable, internet, and phone is the rage. I've seen a floral shop next to a funeral home. Talk about killing two birds with one stone! Yeah, cheap pun but you laughed! It's getting ridiculous or as my friends JD Maverick and April Hunter (Wrestlers and All around cool folks!) say: "Ri-Cock-ulous!" I've even seen a gas station next to a place to buy firearms, all it needs now is a liquor store and a titty bar and it'll become a criminal's paradise! Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the one stop shopping experience but that's a messed up deal to have a florist next to a funeral home... My opinion!

Abraham Lincoln Vs Zombies

I had the opportunity to watch a movie on Sunday and I have to be honest with you, it wasn't what I expected. I was expecting an onslaught of zombie killing action and what I got was more story based "blah blah blah". It starts slow and progressively continues to a crawl and when a "kill" finally takes place, it's over within a blink of an eye. I'm not downing the concept of the show, I'm just saying that there should've been more action for a "B-Movie".

I give this movie an "Ehh"

You can find it at your local RedBox if you're want to see it and give your opinion here.

Drunks Singing Songs

You know what I'm talking about! You're at a bar chillin' with your boys and a song comes on and people start singing. The bad thing is: They only sing the parts EVERYONE KNOWS!!! They never sing the whole song just bits and pieces of it and that make me laugh cause they're so drunk all they can remember is bits and pieces of the song!

Alright, enough of the drunks! Let's talk about Cougars and RHinos... Yes, Rhinos... Old men are Rhinos cause they're usually gray, wrinkled and horny! Cougars are just special ladies that produce "Nana Puddin' " or the equivalent of older women ejaculation :) LOL

Dean's List Fan

I love my fans and it always rocks when I get a pic in support of my show as well as me. I didn't think Facebook would allow it so I posted it here. This is from the Anonymous Lady, enjoy!
